Each square represents a cross stitch and corresponds to one square on a design chart grid. When a project calls for Aida fabric, it usually lists a count, which indicates how many squares per inch of fabric. The range, and colours of fabrics offered by Permin is extensive and we hope to be able to add to our existing range. Today – more than 165 years after Christian Permin started the company – we are fully computerized, though the embroideries are, of course, still made by our skilled designers. However, during World War II it was difficult to export, so in 1942 the first subsidiary was founded, namely Carl Permin AB in Borås – Sweden. At the same time Permin started to export the embroideries to Sweden. In the light of the growing unemployment in the 1930es the “do-it-yourself” trend grab hold of the Danes. They started a shop and a design workshop and business grew rapidly. In 1919 the company moved closer to the centre of Copenhagen. In 1854 on April 1st, Christian Permin started Permin embroideries in Copenhagen.The main product was embroidery, especially initials on home decoration curtains, chair sets, bed linen and towels. Zweigart's trademark is the ORANGE LINE – an orange thread woven into the edge of all the needlework fabrics. The name ZWEIGART stands for top quality and modern colour trends. The fabric is 100% made, with great pride, using high-grade, easy-care materials produced exclusively at the company’s headquarters in Germany.
